Congratulations: You’re a Winner of a Trip to the Great Barrier Reef!

How often do you get an email telling you that you’ve won something?  And, be honest, do you ever believe it or does it get swiftly deleted?  Well, that’s exactly what happened to me last week.

It’s  unusual for me to enter competitions; I don’t even buy a lottery ticket (ever since my brother won £1.4m, I figure my chances are even less) but I had entered a competition to go to the Great Barrier Reef with Queensland Tourism and Darren Rowse, Problogger, (one of my favourite bloggers, along with with amazing Seth Godin.)

So, when I read the email headline, something stopped me deleting it.  I read it and remembered. Some weeks earlier, I’d entered the competition, sent in my entry and promptly forgot all about it.  It was a spur of the moment decision (if you’re interested, you can read why here).

How did I win it?

I don’t know and I still don’t know. There were nearly 800 entries and only 10 places (here’s a link to a list of all the winners). I can only assume that it’s the support and interaction I get online from all my friends and followers so ‘thank you’ to you all Smile

What next?

The trip officially starts on 5th June. The itinerary is AMAZING!!! I’ll get the chance to dive the Great Barrier Reef, visit the Daintree Forest, eat in some of the yummiest restaurants and hang out with some amazing bloggers.  The trip includes a couple of workshops with Darren which will be gold dust.

I’ll be blogging, tweeting, posting to Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and LinkedIn.  Everyone on the trip will be using the hashtag #QLDBlog so you can follow us all there.  Expect lots of photos, above and below the water Smile

Can you help?

Do you have any tips for me?  I’m a newbie to the Aussie way of life.  It’s a long flight from the UK so I’ll need to think about jetlag and how best to manage it.  Any tips about the diving too will be very welcome. Just pop a comment and/or a photo down below.  Smile

Somehow my comment on your facebook page didn’t show up, so will write here again. You should try liveaboard in Cairns and go further North to see outer reef.

To manage jetlag I always take “No-Jet-Lag” (aka “Jet Ease” in some countries), homeopathic pills you take during the flight. I believe they help me a lot feeling better and adjusting easier to the new timezone. Have fun!! :)

Thanks Gaby, great tip!  Managed to find a supplier here in the UK and am getting them shipped :-)  I’ll let you know if they work!
